Birthday Balloons!

...Annnnd I am back! I apologize that I have been a little MIA...somehow 2015 is already flying by and this month has been out of control. But I have been doing lots of crafting! Today I have another card using the Celebrate Today stamp set (I LOVE it... who doesn't love balloons? Specifically paper ones because I know for some reason some people don't like real ones).

I stamped the balloon in Coastal Cabanna on a piece of vellum paper, letting it dry to prevent really inky fingers (learn from my experience). On the reverse side, I heat embossed the confetti in white. The bottom part is from the Birthday Bash Designer Series Paper (DSP). Everything was put together on piece of Whisper White Cardstock on Hello Honey Cardstock and then mounted on Night of Navy. All of the colours on the card can be found through the Birthday Bash DSP collection. Great colours right?

Hope you like it!

Success!

As I mentioned in my last post, this past weekend was my very first card making class! My friend Laura invited some family friends over to make 3 cards. They were an awesome group to have as first attempt and were so patient as we went through everything. It was such a great way to finish off my weekend! So thank you to these lovely ladies!

Washi Celebration!

Happy Humpday! This time of year is very busy for Student affairs. When you couple that with additional activities, you week just gets jammed pack! This upcoming weekend, I am doing my very first card party for a friend! I thought I would give you a peek at one of the cards I am considering as I put the card materials together (I apologize for the not great picture).

This idea I loved for how simple it was to make the card look great. I found it on Pinterest, which linked it back to Nutmeg Creations who has some great ideas! For this card base I used Smoky Slate cardstock. On the white cardstock, I stamped the confetti images  and "celebrate" from Celebrate Today  in Hello Honey. The rest was all done using the Birthday Bash washi sheets dye cut for the balloon and cut into strips for the sides. I added the balloon tail by manipulating the tail in the Celebrate Today set. As tricky as it can be to sometimes get the photopolymer stamps on straight, this was so convenient that it allowed me to make it curvy. I finished the card by adding just a few sequins to glam it up.

This is a great card to start out with! I hope you like it :)

Celebrate Super Bowl!

....Just Kidding. I don't exactly follow. Highlights of the game include half time show...and a really crazy catch at the end and that was about all I watched. HOWEVER, I did get a card done that I couldn't wait to show you! It looks a little more complicated than it actually was, I promise.

I used pieces of the Artisan Embellishment Kit from The 2015 Occassions Catalogue to make this card. I started with the die cut frame that comes in the kit and stuck it down over the paper to use it as a mask (I used sticky notes to hold in place so I didn't ruin the mask). I used versa mark ink over top and then used gold embossing powder. I am so happy with how it turned out when I heat embossed it!

The artisan kit also comes with the velvet Blackberry Bliss ribbon which I used a piece of, and the gorgeous pink flowers. I used the "celebrate" sentiment from the retired Good Greetings set in Blackberry Bliss and added a couple little hearts in Blushing Bride from the Snuggles and Smooches stamp set (a great Valentine's Day set if you are looking to get something to make some Valentine's Day cards!). I also used the little heart to do a little bit on the inside.

The card base was Blushing Bride glued on to a Blackberry Bliss card (I love this colour so much! Perhaps I should start branching out?)

I had such a hard time deciding what type of card to make this. I decided on celebrate because it is pretty versatile and might end up making a great wedding card for this summer!

I hope you are staying warm and safe with the crazy snow tonight!
